Cold Laser

Can Cold Laser Therapy Help You?

If you think the chiropractor only specializes in spinal adjustment, think again. At Anderson Chiropractic, serving McMurray, PA, we are always looking for new and innovative ways to help our patients deal with pain. We are happy to offer cold laser therapy as an option for pain management.

What Is Cold Laser Therapy?

Cold laser therapy is a pain treatment option which uses low levels of laser light. This light is used to stimulate healing. The light does not cool your tissues, though. The word cold is used because the level of light is so low that it is not considered hot.

Because of the low level of light used, cold laser therapy is also sometimes referred to as low-level laser therapy as well. Although many chiropractic clinics are recently introducing cold laser as a pain management option, the treatment has actually been around for about thirty years.

How Does Cold Laser Therapy Work?

During cold laser therapy, non-thermal light passes into the skin. This light reaches the target area where the pain is located. When this light is absorbed by the cells, it begins to interact with light sensitive elements in the cells. This interaction results in a series of events which reduce inflammation, readjust damaged or injured tissues, and increase the healing process within the cell.

Which Conditions Benefit from This Treatment?

Cold Laser therapy has been shown useful in treating fibromyalgia, sports injuries, chronic pain, burns, ligament strains, carpal tunnel, frozen shoulder, and more.

Other benefits of this therapy include the fact that it is a drug free option for pain management. Many people who suffer from chronic pain feel conflicted over using strong pain medication because of its many side effects. Cold laser therapy does not have the negative side effects of pain medications.

This therapy can be used in conjunction with other forms of pain management without negative interactions. Patients with ongoing pain issues are thrilled to find a treatment option that is both safe and affordable.

What Can I Expect at the Chiropractor?

During your first visit to the chiropractor, you can expect an evaluation to be done. This evaluation will help our staff understand your current state of health, your needs, and expectations. This information will help us to create a customized treatment plan for you.

Chiropractic care is highly personalized, so you can rest assured that you are getting the treatment that will best address your specific needs and issues.
