Tennis Injuries and Performance Improvement with our McMurray ChiropractorMcMurray Chiropractor at Anderson Chiropractic prevents injury & improves tennis game performance through manual adjustments & rehabilitative exercises

Tennis is a fun, motivating and stimulating form of physical activity. We want you to continue to enjoy your favorite activities for years to come and without the interruption of injuries. However, if you are dealing with a tennis injury that is slowing your progress, decreasing  your performance or keeping you out of the game altogether, Anderson Chiropractic has effective and gentle treatment options. Chiropractic care provides an alternative to traditional injury healing methods such as surgery, medicine or physical therapy. Our McMurray chiropractor, Dr. Scott Anderson, uses a variety of natural techniques to speed your recovery and return you to the love of the game.

Common Tennis Injuries

You use all parts of your body during a game of tennis, but some areas are more at risk for injury than others. Some of the tennis injuries that we diagnose and treat include:

  • Tennis elbow- also known as lateral epicondylitis, is inflammation in the area outside of your elbow. This irritation and inflammation typically occur in the muscles and tendons of your forearm that attach to the area near your elbow. Tennis elbow occurs from repetitive motions or overuse, so if you play multiple games in a row or have a week or two of intense practice, you may notice sensitivity in your elbow.

  • Shoulder injuries- overuse may also lead to shoulder pain. Our chiropractor will also look for muscular weaknesses or bone spurs that could be aggravating the pain.

  • Muscle strains- sudden movements or playing at a high intensity without warming up may lead to a strained or pulled muscle in your legs, back or shoulders.

  • Wrist pain- the action of gripping the racquet may lead to sensitivity in your wrist and symptoms of carpal tunnel which include grip weakness or numbness.

Chiropractic Care for Tennis Injuries

Dr. Anderson evaluates your condition to develop the optimum approach for your injury. Our chiropractor uses manual adjustments to position your elbows, wrists, shoulders, knees, hips and back into a healthier, pain-free alignment. This encourages your body to heal due to the increased blood flow and healing nutrients to the area. We teach you rehabilitative exercises to restore muscular balance and strength. Our chiropractor may also uses the Activator tool to help decrease scar tissue and properly position your joints. Our chiropractor is encouraged by the results shown with Erchonia Cold Laser Therapy. The cold laser is positioned over your injured area and stimulates healing at the cellular level. You do not feel any discomfort during the process and often feel an immediate reduction in pain. We typically suggest a series of treatments to decrease inflammation and restore mobility. Patients usually see results within 3 to 4 visits compared with 4 to 8 weeks of physical therapy.
