SOLVENCY

image
The ability to meet financial obligations is solvency. Ask any doctor if people owe for unpaid medical services. But that is not what got me to write this article.  Many people have trouble with solvency. I can assure you it is a blessing to be solvent and only you can create that.

I was spending a lot of time in a sauna recently and needed to pass some of the time away. On my bookshelf was a copy of The Richest Man in Babylon. I had read it decades ago when I was poor. It was rewarding to go through this book again. This book was written by an American George Samuel Clason in 1926 a couple years before the great depression. Perhaps George saw something coming and in my opinion helped Americans achieve greater financial stability in the years to come. You would have to read it yourself and see if you agree with me. It has been read by millions and is available today at bookstores and via internet.

The author gives many financial parables to tell his greater story about being a responsible person in the subject of dealing with money. His advice is fundamental, even axiomatic. Essentially he says if you know how to handle money appropriately, money will keep coming your way. You will be a better citizen and keep the world turning favorably. I doubt a better book has ever been written on the fundamentals of money management.  Check it out.

Sincerely,

Dr. Mike Spearman
