Here we are again, almost Thanksgiving. People often overindulge in the tasty treats that come with the holiday season or fail to stick to their normal schedule because “it’s the holidays.” Here are a few tips to enjoying the upcoming holiday season without regret!

-          Stick to a Schedule! Having holiday parties to attend, shopping to get done and family to see can make it feel like your schedule is non-existent during the holiday season. Sticking to a routine is key to your health and happiness. If you already go to the gym 3 times a week, make time to continue this – even if you have to adjust which days/times you exercise. Continue going to bed at your “normal” bedtime as well. Lack of a routine sleep schedule can lower your metabolism.

-          Enjoy, Don’t Overindulge! It’s easy to start the holidays off thinking, “I’ll just have one slice of pie,” or the like. Unfortunately, as the holiday season progresses, it is all too easy to have that second slice of pie or an extra helping at dinner. We all deserve a “treat” every once in a while. Enjoy that slice of pie or extra helping of potatoes at Thanksgiving dinner! Just remember not to overindulge all season long.

-          Don’t Give Up! If you have worked all year to eat healthy food and get in better shape, don’t give up on that until the new year. Keep up the good work throughout the holiday season. Enjoy your “treats” but don’t forget to continue your healthy lifestyle.
