Proper Posture, Stretches, and Other Spine Healthy Travel Tips

We know how important it is to feel good during your vacation and a healthy spine definitely plays a huge role in that. Chiropractic Partners has been serving the Triangle for over 20 years in Raleigh, Wake Forest, Durham, Cary, Clayton, Fuquay Varina, and Garner, and our chiropractors know that traveling is fun, but it can take a toll on your back if you do not take precautions to prevent pain.

You should seek chiropractic care before and after your vacation (or even during) to make sure your spine is in tip-top shape during your summer excursions. Existing back problems can be aggravated by sitting for so long during travels and long-term back issues can occur if proper posture is ignored. Here are a few simple tips from our team to help.

Summer Travel Tips for a Healthy Spine

  • Use proper back support such as pillows to reduce lower back pain and strain.
  • Maintain proper leg room for comfort as well as to avoid physical problems.
  • Stretch and exercise your legs as often as possible while flying or driving to reduce the risk of swelling.
  • Take plenty of rest breaks along the way so you and passengers are not overly tired and fatigued....You could even consider getting a massage.
  • Maintain proper posture when lifting luggage by bending at the knees when lifting heavy items
  • Do stretches and take a brisk walk before you travel to exercise your calf and hamstring muscles
