How To Stay Safe on the Road

Over three million people are injured on U.S. roads each year. You don't have to become a part of that statistic. At Chiropractic Partners Corporate, we treat all types of car accident injuries ranging from minor sprains to serious spinal injuries. We understand the many challenges that can come after an auto accident injury. That's why we'd like to present this quick guide on how to stay safe on the road.

Ways to Prevent Auto Accident Injury

1). Buckle Your Safety Belt

This should be a no-brainer. However, there are still many people who forget to put on their safety belts. Some may justify not strapping in because they are just driving to the corner store. However, 82% of all auto accidents occur within five miles of a person's home. No matter how far you are traveling, always make sure that you buckle your safety belt.

2). Obey Traffic Laws

Many accidents occur when drivers ignore stop signs, run red lights, and disobey speed limits. Traffic laws are designed to keep everyone safe. Therefore, it is important that you obey all traffic laws including speed limits, red lights, stop signs, and other instructions.

3). Keep a Safe Distance From Semi-Trucks and Other Large Vehicles

Large vehicles such as 18-wheelers and industrial vehicles need lots of distance between themselves and other vehicles on the road. Make sure not to tailgate these vehicles, and maintain a safe distance. A good rule of thumb – if you cannot see the side mirrors on a truck, the truck driver cannot see you.

4). Don't Drive Distracted

Distracted driving is a cause of many auto accidents each year. Be sure to not have your smartphone in your hands while on the road. Use hands-free calling if necessary. Make sure you are not otherwise distracted while on the road.
