A little history: Dr. Russ Redd at our Wake Forest Chiropractic Partners office attended the Boys and Girls clubs in the 80's, worked there in the 90's, then continued to serve on the board to help come up with fundraising ideas.  Dr. Redd and his wife Cat, decided to start a 5K race and then "ran" with the idea of the annual Gobbler's Run, it has been a hit ever since!

Where else can you run with 2,000 of your closest friends, exercise before the biggest meal of the year AND help 1,000 kids at the same time?

Guess what? Exercise combined with Chiropractic care is a winning combination!

How does moving and exercising help?

  • Stiff joints and tight muscles are more likely to be a problem if you don't get enough exercise or spend too much time sitting. Fortunately, increasing your activity level is a simple way to avoid pain and stiffness.
  • Fluid surrounding your joints decreases friction when you move a joint, helping it move easily. The more you move, the more fluid circulates around your joints. Movement also helps nutrients reach your joints and muscles, reduces muscle stiffness and spasms, and makes it easier for your body to remove old, damaged cells from your joints.
  • Regular exercise keeps your bones strong and strengthens the muscles, ligaments, and tendons that support your joints. Although exercising in the gym is an excellent way to increase your activity level, you don't need to participate in a formal workout program to enjoy the benefits of moving more. Walking, jogging or even riding your bike will keep your joints limber and strong.

How does Chiropractic care help?

  • Chiropractic works by restoring your own inborn ability to be healthy. When under the proper control of your nervous system, all the cells, tissues, and organs of your body are designed to resist disease and ill health.
  • The chiropractic approach to better health is to locate and help remove interferences to your natural state of being healthy. A common interference to the nervous system is dysfunction of the 24 moving bones of the spinal column. A loss of normal motion or position of these bones can irritate or impair the function of the nervous system. This can disrupt the transmission of controlling nerve impulses.
  • With improved spinal function there is often improved nervous system function. Our chiropractors can help remove interferences that may be impairing normal health. Since the primary focus of your care is improved nervous system function, chiropractic can have a positive effect on many health conditions not normally thought of as “back” problems.
