Pinched Nerve Treatment in Raleigh, NC

Chiropractic therapy is extremely helpful in treating pinched nerves in many ways. Pinched nerves usually are caused either a bony impingement, meaning there might be a joint that is pressing on the nerve, or in many cases by a bulging disc, herniated disc, or tight muscles. Chiropractic treatment can relieve pressure off the nerve and offer remarkable relief from pinched nerve pain. A pinched nerve doesn’t only have local pain. One in the neck can radiate down the arm, or another in the low back may radiate into the leg. Chiropractors can help relieve these pains by repositioning the bones, relaxing the muscles, and reducing the pressure on nerves.

There are many reasons you may get pinched nerves.  They can occur due to injuries, sporting activities, a sedentary lifestyle, incorrect seating/standing or lack of ergonomics in the workplace, auto accident injuries and even an already compromised area that can become tweaked from sleeping in a less than optimal position. Whatever the cause, there are several techniques to treat pinched nerves that our NC chiropractors can offer.

Techniques That Treat Pinched Nerves

Sciatica, low back pain, numbness, tingling, headaches, fatigue, overall pain, and discomfort can occur when a nerve becomes and stays pinched. We aim to offer relief care to get you out of pain that is accompanied by a plan to prevent it from happening again. Our chiropractors will ask questions about your daily life- from your workouts to your career life to help create a preventive plan.

We use a variety of complementary techniques to treat pinched nerves:

The flexion/distraction technique aims to alleviate pain and realign disc bulging. When a disc bulges, it often compresses the associated nerves in its path. The flexion/distraction technique helps to replace the bulged region of the disc by decompressing the region. This gentle, distractive technique not only alleviates the pinch and puts the disc back in place, but it allows space for nutrition to flow directly to the spinal column for healing.

Massage therapy can help the experience of sciatica as well to complement your adjustment. In certain cases, massage is better utilized before an adjustment to help soften stubborn tissues to make your adjustment more comfortable. We may also apply massage after to further reduce inflammation.

Acupuncture is available to reduce pain and improve neural communication between the muscles, spinal nerves and rest of the body. Hair-thin needles are placed along the skin's surface to reduce pain and promote healing. When nerves are pinched it can often cause what are known as muscle spindle fibers to seize up along the spine; further aggravating pinched nerves. Along with our chiropractic techniques, acupuncture can release these trigger points.
