The Vibrancy of Houston

Few cities in America can match the excitement, the vibrancy, or the breadth of opportunities that can be enjoyed in Houston. Students at Texas Chiropractic College work hard—in the classroom, in the laboratories, and in the clinics. So when it is time to take a break from TCC’s rigorous learning experience, Houston provides the perfect playground.

Just 40 miles from the Gulf of Mexico, Houston is the fourth largest city in the U.S. The city boasts more than 11,000 restaurants; 165 golf courses; 18 Fortune 500 companies; 16 major museums; professional teams representing every major sport; more than 500 cultural, visual, and performing arts organizations; a theatre district second only to that of New York City; countless parks; and the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world.

Add to that the fact that Houston has the second lowest cost of living among major American cities and it becomes clear that, at TCC, students truly have the world at their doorstep.

Attractions

Some of the most popular attractions in the world are within a short walk, or a short drive of the TCC campus. The relationship between TCC and Houston is a strong one, allowing students to enjoy all the benefits a great metropolitan home can offer.

Museums

Houston’s museum district features a huge array of museums, galleries, and art and cultural institutions.

Theatres

As one of only five cities with permanent professional resident companies in all the major performing arts, Houston’s theatre district spans 17 blocks and is second only to that of New York City.

Professional Sports

Houston’s professional sports teams offer year-round entertainment, have won multiple world championships, and are a source of pride for the entire city.

Outdoor Recreation

Whether it is fishing, camping, hiking, biking, hunting, or boating, Houston and its surrounding area provides an endless array of outlets for outdoor recreation.

Armand Bayou Nature Center preserves and manages 2,500 acres of wetlands, prairie, forest, and marsh habitat surrounding Armand Bayou. And the Clear Lake area features one of the greatest concentrations of sailboats, yachts, and pleasure craft in the U.S.

With more than a dozen state parks nearby; sport fishing opportunities in the Gulf of Mexico; and thousands of acres of parkland for camping, hiking, and biking; the Houston area is known far and wide as a Mecca for outdoor fun.
