Student Spotlight: Francisco Vega-Maldonado

Meet Francisco Vega-Maldonado: Currently in his fifth trimester at TCC, he is an ambassador of the college, the president of the International Fellowship of TCC and the vice president of his class. Francisco came to TCC from his hometown of Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, where hopes to open his own chiropractic practice after graduation.

Alumni Spotlight: Dr. Virgilio Paniagua

Dr. Virgilio Paniagua was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and grew up in Boston, Mass. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass., followed by his Pre-Med degree from Quincy College. He then graduated from Texas Chiropractic College in 2006. From 2006 to 2007, he worked at Allied Medical Center in Houston. Shortly after he moved to Puerto Rico and worked as an associate doctor for various chiropractors on the island while obtaining his CCSP and ICCSP.

Dr. Jeffrey Weiss Recognized as Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year

Dr. Jeffrey Weiss was named Texas Chiropractic College Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year at Deer Park Chamber of Commerce’s annual Salute to Education, an annual event to recognize the hard work and achievements of local instructors. Along with his recognition, Dr. Weiss also received a congressional certificate from Congressman Brian Babin of District 36.

Chris Thomas, who will graduate with his Doctor of Chiropractic in August, has balanced owning many companies while completing his coursework at TCC. As an experienced licensed massage therapist who has owned his business for ten years, Chris was chosen to serve as an LMT for Team USA for the second time later this year.

Holly Tharp graduated from Louisiana State University Shreveport in December 2013 with her B.S. in Health Promotion with concentrations in Kinesiology and Epidemiology. Throughout college she wanted to be a physical therapist, but she was inspired to become a chiropractor after she watched her father’s chronic pain gain relief through chiropractic and her sister enrolled at TCC.

Dr. Shari Wynd, associate professor and Department Chair of Foundational Sciences at Texas Chiropractic College, was recently recognized for her work on research that was published in the American Journal of Physiology. Wynd collaborated on this project with Dr. Aladin Boriek, preeminent researcher in respiratory mechanics and professor at Baylor College of Medicine.
Chiropractic Gains Ground During Texas Legislative Session
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed into law Senate Bill 304, continuing the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners (TBCE) and upholding the right of licensed doctors of chiropractic in Texas to diagnose patients. It caps a historic legislative session for the chiropractic profession in Texas.

M. Seun Adigun is a Trimester 7 student at Texas Chiropractic College working towards her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. She encounters all the struggles graduate students do in daily life including learning, studying and trying to master the difficult material. However, in addition to these responsibilities, Adigun is also training to hopefully attend the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Ms. Horsley was unable to be present for the check presentation, but Dr. Stephen Foster, President of Texas Chiropractic College, was pleased to accept it on her behalf. 'It is no surprise to us at Texas Chiropractic College that Amber was awarded ChiroHealthUSA’s Foxworth Family Scholarship. Texas Chiropractic College to Sponsor 300 hour two-year Diplomate Program in Clinical Nutrition

Texas Chiropractic College is proud to sponsor a 300 Hour two-year Diplomate program in Clinical Nutrition with a Functional Medicine component at the Texas Chiropractic College. This program has been sponsored by several Chiropractic Colleges since the 1990’s and has served to educate hundreds of doctors and other health care professionals allowing them to provide more effective nutritional protocols to scores of patients. This evidence-based approach now includes components of both functional and integrative medicine.

Dr. Martha Friesen Awarded at Deer Park's annual Salute to Education

Friesen was awarded the 2016 -2017 Deer Park Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year award for the third time. She previously won this award in 2004 and 2011. Friesen was also awarded a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition by Rep. Brian Babin of the 36th Congressional District.
TCC Offers 100-Hour Acupuncture Certification Program
