Texas Chiropractic College Student Receives Community Scholarship
August 18, 2016 - PASADENA, Texas
The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce Cultural Arts Committee met recently to award scholarships to two students from local colleges. The students had to be nominated by a faculty or staff member to win the $1000 scholarship.
Angelique Miller, a trimester 8 student at Texas Chiropractic College, said she was “completely surprised” to be given this award. Miller said some faculty members had “convinced [her] [she] was in trouble and asked [her] to come to the administration building.” When Miller arrived she was pleasantly surprised to learn that she had actually won a scholarship and was in fact not in trouble at all. She says she is “very excited and honored” to receive this scholarship and also says it will help her immensely in paying bills and tuition costs.
Miller was nominated to win the scholarship by Director of Student Services, Kristina Hanson. Hanson says she nominated Miller “because she is one of the best ambassadors of the college.” She continued with, “that’s just the kind of person [Miller] is…she is dedicated to her profession and the community and is always finding creative ways to give back.”
