Ankle Sprain

Twisting the foot at an odd angle causes ligaments to stretch and tear, resulting in a sprained ankle. Rest, ice, and elevation are important recovery methods. Chiro and ortho treatments are also useful for rebuilding ankle strength to avoid a repeat injury.

Groin Pull

Pushing off the ground from side to side can strain the groin area. People who play soccer, hockey, baseball, and football are prone to these injuries. Compression, rest, and ice are usually all you need to heal. However, returning to activities too quickly could result in repeat injuries and long-term problems.

Hamstring Strain

Overstretching the muscles at the back of the thigh causes a hamstring strain. Jumping hurdles, kicking your leg out sharply when running, or falling forward with straight legs can injure your hamstrings. Complete healing can take six to 12 months. Orthopedic and chiropractic care can speed up the process.

Shin Splints

Most often caused by strenuous running on hard pavement, shin splints are characterized by pain down the front of the lower legs. Sometimes, shin splints are actually stress fractures in the shin bone. If your pain is severe, visit SMART Spine Institute and Surgery Center for treatment.

Torn ACL

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is at risk of stretching or tearing if you play contact sports. Professional medical care is always necessary if you suspect an ACL injury. At our clinic in Arcadia, we offer PRP injections and orthopedic surgery for completely torn ACLs.

Patellofemoral Syndrome

This injury is characterized by damaged soft tissue under the kneecap, which can result from running, basketball, volleyball, and other activities. Exercising your quads and avoiding high-impact exercise is important until you heal.

Tennis Elbow

Tiny tears in the elbow’s tendons are caused by repetitively swinging a tennis racquet or golf club, hence the name tennis elbow. Avoid activities that cause you pain until your condition improves.
